About three years ago I bid on an old 1800’s photograph of a lady and won the auction.
The photograph was titled “Lovely” and was taken by a photographer named J. C. Steinman.
I researched the photographer in the past few years out of curiosity and found zero results.
I lost the original photograph about a year ago and just today while I was looking into my stuff I found it in the silliest place I could think of.
So I started researching the photographer once again in an attempt to maybe find a connection of some sort between them and the person, and I found this website:
This link leads to a few photographs taken by the same photographer with the same exact ink stamp.
Now what I understood from the link (which I translated via google) is that J. C. Steinman took photos of Danish immigrants in Philadelphia.
Now since I have no info about the lady in the photograph I thought why not search about female Danish immigrants who had been to Philadelphia in the 1800’s since that is where the photographer is from (from the stamp on the back of his photographs).
So I did a little bit of research and started looking for pictures and checked them one by one until I stumbled upon a picture of a lady that looks very similar to the one I have, although older in age.
Now I’m no expert when it comes to identifying people from really old photographs, but doesn’t she look like her?
The lady’s name is Camilla Dorothy Jacobsen Corbett.
I can see similarities in the eyes, lips, ears, and maybe hair.
Could this be her?
Please help me close this case as for some reason it is driving me crazy.
Yes this can safely be labeled “unimportant” or not needed at all, but out of respect to this unknown lady in the photograph I feel I must find who she is.
